Study of insects shows that street lighting affects ecosystem
City lights have an unexpectedly strong effect on insect populations, favoring some species and harming others, according to a study that raises new questions about the human impact on wildlife.
Scientists led by Thomas Davies of the University of Exeter, southwest England, spent three days in August 2011 by installing insect traps in the vicinity of Helston, a small town in Cornwall.
