Technological progress does not stop in front of our living rooms. After DVDs have the old VHS tape already successfully replaced, also the Blu-ray is spreading in local clubs and is the better and cheaper expectant Full HD TVs for years to make sense. But with Sony, Sharp, Samsung and Co the next generation of the wow effect is already in the starting blocks: UHD TV with 4K resolution. But what is it and is worth the purchase of a 4K TVs today?
When 4K (and not 100% correct as UHD) refers to a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. That's stonco four times more pixels than displayed in the standard Full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Also as UHD but also referred to the 8K resolution 7,680 x 4,320 pixels. The clever heads in the committees were able to once again not clearly agree on a name - but that is now here we do not care because 8K actually stonco is still some way off.
The 4K, however, are close enough to touch. For the first time we saw models with four times Full HD resolution as early as 2012 to the relevant fairs. Since then a lot has happened: The first consumer models have found their way into the market stonco and have become affordable to more reasonable prices. Advantages of 4K UHD - who sees the ever?
But while you are still waiting in Germany on TV in Full HD, because the stations only send HD in 720p, it is elsewhere already on. But that does not interest us. We live here and are also enthusiastic about the new technology. While many already see little difference between 720p and Full HD (1080p) at a certain pitch in the television, is the difference in the comparison between Full HD and 4K already more than clear - even at a greater distance in the consideration - at least for devices from 55 inch. The image also affects the distance sharper, more detailed and vivid. The difference is clear and does not need to be searched with a magnifying stonco glass, but a jump (caution, pun!) Formally considered. However, so far lacks the source material for 4K content. TV? See above. Blu-ray? Dissolving in Full HD and have not enough space for feature films in UHD resolutions. Then why 4K TV? A huge plus offer 4K TVs are already fans of 3D movies. stonco Technically, the horizontal resolution of current screens decreases with polarization filter ads by half to produce the 3D effect. Thus, only 4K TVs are capable of displaying such content in real Full HD for each eye, which affects not only the sculptural effect, but also on the image quality. But even Blu-ray in full HD resolution can benefit from 4K televisions if the Blu-ray Player upscaled image on the UHD resolution. This is not a "real" 4K, but still looks better than Full HD. In addition, fans of living room PCs (HTPCs called) and gamers are already keen on more sharpness and detail on the screen. stonco Quo Vadis 4K?
We will probably not experience so fast that our beloved Blu-ray Disc will be replaced stonco by a medium with more storage capacity. At least not before there will be not even halfway tidy common 4K image material in circulation. Streaming is the magic word here. Because for that you need not start a new carrier medium, but only for our bandwidth Internet providers - and we have already. Netflix and other vendors want to expand their range to 4K material. While current film productions are often already stonco included natively in 4K, older movies and series upsample can digitize in 4K.
So we see: Thanks upscaling, 3D movies and more television is not pie in 4K, but also makes already fun. And let's be honest: He who is not keen on 4K, has seen them in action yet not the TV!
