Education and work towards the popularisation of science are objectives which should be general consensus in our country. It said the Head of the PN Simon Busuttil during a visit to NSTS (Foundation) Science Expo that is being held at the Institute of Applied Science MCAST. The Head of the Nationalist Party, accompanied by the Secretary General of the NSTS (Foundation) Francis Stivala, business spotlight met with students who are hosting exhibitions business spotlight and experiments, as well as those visiting the Science Expo.
Dr Busuttil praised the work and the work of all students involved in the exhibition of projects and works of art in the Science Expo this year. The Head of the Nationalist Party also reiterated its appreciation for the work done to improve the performance of our country in the fields of science and to attract more people to this sector. However, there is still much work to be done for our country to reach the level we want to achieve in this sector. He made reference to the work done in the past with the National Strategy on Education Sciences and the development of Science popularisation Unit within the Malta Council for Science and Technology, as well as investment scientific apparatus made in schools, as examples of work done in the past five years for the popularisation of science among students and youth.
The Head of the Nationalist Party said that research and innovation require more investment in our country, even to children growing up today have what to aspire and dream. Thus the Nationalist Party welcomes the ambition of the Government to increase the budget for research and innovation to 2% of GDP by 2020. In view of this fact the Nationalist Party looks the Government gives a concrete business spotlight plan on how to achieve these goals.
During the visit the Head of the Nationalist Party was accompanied by Education Spokesman Joe Cassar and the Nationalist Party candidate for election to the European Parliament Helga Ellul and Jonathan Shaw.
